5 Reasons to Have Live Music at Your Next Event

Live music has the power to create an unforgettable atmosphere at any occasion, be it a wedding, corporate event, or private party. But what exactly are the benefits of having a live band perform? Let's take a closer look at the advantages of incorporating live music into your event.

Atmosphere

Live Bands Create the Perfect Atmosphere

Looking to set a lively and festive tone? A live band is an excellent choice. For a more relaxed atmosphere, consider hiring a solo musician. Live music can really help to establish the vibe you're aiming for. Don't forget that live music can also create an intimate setting. The personal touch of live musicians will make your guests feel special and give them moments to cherish, especially during significant occasions like walking down the aisle or the first dance.

Flow

Live Bands Go with the Flow

Live music offers an interactive and engaging experience, while a DJ's performance can sometimes be more passive. When hiring a band, there are numerous focal points aside from the lead singer, especially if all band members are fully engaged and enjoying the performance. A great band knows how to energize the crowd like a DJ, while also delivering unique, customized renditions of songs. They can choose to faithfully reproduce the original sound or infuse their own distinct style, making the performance truly one-of-a-kind.

Personal

Live Music is More Personal

Live musical performers bring a unique element to any occasion. When you book a live band in Franklin East, TN, you can add personal touches to your event in a way that other forms of entertainment cannot provide. For instance, you can select songs that hold special significance for you or your guests or choose music that complements the theme of your event. When you collaborate with SongStory, you even have the option of having a musician compose a personalized song for you and arrange for a live band to perform it. It doesn't get more personal than that!

Live Bands Get Your Guests Moving

Live bands have a remarkable way of getting people on their feet. Whether they're dancing or simply tapping along to the beat, it adds an infectious energy to any event. This is especially advantageous for occasions that involve a lot of sitting, such as conferences and seminars. Live music helps break up the monotony and keeps guests engaged throughout. Furthermore, a lively band that can engage with the crowd adds an extra level of vibrancy, ensuring that your event will be memorable long after it's over.

Professionalism and Reliability

When you hire live bands, you are bringing on board professional performers skilled at captivating and entertaining the audience. They come fully equipped, sparing you the hassle of renting sound systems or instruments. Their expertise guarantees a seamless event and an enjoyable experience for your guests.

Listening to Live Music is Good for Your Health

Yes, you read that right! Live music has been found to be good for people's health and well-being. Studies have shown that watching live music can help reduce stress hormones, including cortisol. Scientists have recently looked into the positive mood-altering effects of live music and found that cortisol levels decreased after witnessing a live performance. Also, dancing to the live band of your choice can give you the same benefits as 30 minutes on a treadmill. That means you're exercising and burning calories without having to go to the gym or go for a run.

Kennesaw State transfer RHP Tanner Franklin has committed to Tennessee baseball, he announced on social media Monday. Franklin is the first pitcher to commit to the Vols out of the portal this offseason.

"It's the best spot for me," Franklin told GoVols247 prior to his announcement. "I felt like God was telling me to go there. It's home at the end of the day. That's what led to the decision."

Franklin is from nearby Jefferson City, Tenn. and attended Jefferson County High School. He played the past two seasons at Kennesaw State.

"I was looking for somewhere I can go and develop as a person, but also as a player, somewhere it's fun playing baseball," Franklin said. " When you watch Tennessee, they have fun every single day. It doesn't matter if it's a practice or a game, whatever it is. They're enjoying being out there and are after the same thing. That's something I was looking for."

Extremely blessed for this new opportunity! Thank you Lord. Go Vols!Psalms 24:17 pic.twitter.com/5dKdv6G5n0

Franklin made 21 appearances and one start this past season at Kennesaw State as a sophomore. He went 4-1, recorded five saves and struck out 43 hitters in 27.1 innings of work. His ERA improved to 5.60 after posting an 8.18 as a true freshman in 2023.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pound righty has been up to 98 mph on the radar gun. He has a powerful arm and is expected to make another jump while working with strength coach Quentin Eberhardt and pitching coach Frank Anderson.

"Their track record of guys they've gotten and then pushed into professional baseball these past couple years is crazy," Franklin said. "It shows that what they're doing is working. That was one of the easiest decisions. Just knowing what they do with the pitchers and how they develop them."

Franklin was ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 92 overall player in the state of Tennessee for the class of 2022 out of Jefferson County. He was considered the No. 36 overall RHP in the Volunteer State.

"They like how I'm a big-bodied right-handed pitcher that throws pretty hard," Franklin said. "They like that I'm a power pitcher. They like my presence on the mound.

"I'm ready to compete and I'm ready for any role I'm given. Any role that I've earned, I'm going to push for whatever spot is available and try to earn as many innings as I can."

Franklin is the first transfer to commit to Tennessee this offseason. UT did receive a commitment from JUCO RHP Thomas Crabtree out of Pearl River C.C. on June 12.

Tennessee's pitching staff is set to lose current junior RHP Drew Beam to the MLB Draft this offseason, while key lefties Kirby Connell, Zander Sechrist and Chris Stamos will run out of eligibility. UT could also potentially lose junior RHP AJ Causey and redshirt-junior RHP Aaron Combs to the draft as well following stellar seasons.

The Vols won their first national championship in their seventh appearance at the Men's College World Series just over a week ago. It was their first appearance in the CWS Finals since 1951 when they finished as the runner-up to Oklahoma.

Tennessee became the first No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament to win the national championship since Miami did so in 1999. UT also became the first SEC team to reach the 60-win mark in a single season and just the fourth conference team to win the SEC regular season title, SEC Tournament title and the Men's College World Series in the same year.

It’s a homecoming of sorts for Franklin who played his high school baseball at Jefferson County and is an East Tennessee native. Franklin is a rising junior who’s had moderate success in his two seasons at Kennesaw State.

The right-handed pitcher posted a 4-1 record and 5.60 ERA in 27.1 innings pitched in his sophomore season. Franklin made 21 total appearances and just one start, earning five saves as a reliever. Walks were an issue for Franklin in each of his first two collegiate seasons including 27 last season.

But the 6-foot-5, 240-pound reliever boasts an upper 90s fastball and has a high ceiling. His strikeout numbers amplify it. Franklin sat down 43 batters in his 27.1 innings last season while opponents hit just .212 off of the Jefferson City native. Franklin also throws a slider and a cutter off of his high-end fastball.

Franklin is playing his summer baseball in the Cape Cod League— largely considered the best collegiate summer league in the country— and met with Tennessee associate head coach Josh Elander over the weekend.

More From RTI: Tennessee Baseball Playing In Early Season Tournament In Houston

Franklin is the first player that Tennessee has landed out of the transfer portal this offseason though they also won a recruiting battle to land junior college right-handed pitcher Thomas Crabtree out of Pearl River Community College in Mississippi.

Tony Vitello and the Vols are looking to bolster a pitching staff that expects to lose a multitude of key arms off of their National Championship winning team. Kirby Connell, Zander Sechrist and Chris Stamos are out of eligibility, Drew Beam is definitively off to professional baseball and AJ Causey and Aaron Combs will most likely do the same.

Tennessee also lost a trio of pitchers to the transfer portal earlier this offseason— left-handers Wyatt Evans and Matthew Dallas as well as right-hander Derek Schaefer. None of the trio had a major role on last season’s team though Dallas and Schaefer were both freshmen that were highly touted coming out of high school.

Nate Snead, AJ Russell, Marcus Phillips, Dylan Loy and Andrew Behnke are the most notable returning arms for Tennessee baseball entering the 2025 season.

Tennessee’s first commitment from the transfer portal comes from an East Tennessee product in right-handed pitcher Tanner Franklin.

The Jefferson County native made it official on Tuesday with an announcement on social media. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound pitcher played his first two seasons at Kennesaw State and entered the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining on June 17. Franklin is draft eligible next summer in 2025.

Franklin compiled a 4-1 record with a 5.60 ERA over 21 appearances with one start in 2024. The sophomore completed 27.1 innings pitched with 43 strikeouts and 27 walks, while opponents were hitting .212 against the righty. He also logged five saves in the backend of the bullpen. In 2023 as a true freshman, Franklin owned an 8.18 ERA over 13 appearances with two starts and 11 innings pitched.

This past spring, he tossed a season-best four innings of one-run baseball over 67 pitches with 11 strikeouts and three walks in a contest at Queens on April 20.

“I mean, it’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid. It still doesn’t feel real yet, but it’s a pretty cool opportunity to have. I’m so excited,” Franklin told Volquest.

Playing for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod League this summer, top-assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Josh Elander was in attendance this past weekend and the two had a chance to catch up. The pitcher went ahead and committed to the staff on Saturday and projects to be a bullpen arm that could see high-leverage situations.

Franklin will bring a high-velocity arm with a fastball that sits 97-99 miles per hour. He also throws a cutter with a breaking curveball and chose the Vols over in-state foe Vanderbilt. As a senior with the Patriots (Jefferson County) in 2022, the righty won Mr. Tennessee Baseball with 101 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.95.

The transfer portal opened June 3 and remains open until July 2. Seven players have now entered the transfer portal from Tennessee, a list that includes Matthew Dallas, Wyatt Evans, Daniel Parris, Derek Schaefer, Robin Villeneuve, Bradke Lohry and 2023 third baseman Zane Denton. Tennessee picked up a commitment from Junior College pitcher Thomas Crabtree before heading off to Omaha and Franklin becomes the first commitment out of the transfer portal from the 2024 cycle.
